History

Salem is a small village situated in Bicholim taluka in the North Goa District. It is situated 18 km away from sub-district headquarter Bicholim and 40 km away from district headquarter & capital city of Panaji. The total Geographical area of the village is 1069.53 hectares with maximum land being under the control of Devasthan of Salem. Agriculture is the primary sources of livelihood for the people of Salem. Salem has a total population of 3427 as per the 2011 population census. Approximate 761 households are in Salem village.
